In his own words:
I, former Lt. Col. Nenglo Yang, was born on March 15, 1935 at Ban Phakboon, Province of Xieng Khouang, Laos. I served my country as a soldier during the French occupation and in the Secret War. Here is a list of my duties and years of military service.
1951-1960—I spent 9 years in the French army in the territory of Xieng Khouang, Laos.
1960-1961—I served as Commander to 2nd Company, which is 1st Airborne Battalion located at Savannaket.
1961-1963—I was a Chief of Cabinet 54 in Military Region 2 (MR 2).
1963-1965—I was the Commander of GM 21 for the Special Guerrilla Units in Xieng Khouang, which was in MR 2.
1965-1968—I was wounded in combat at the Ho Chi Minh Trail during heavy fighting against the enemies. Then I returned to recover in Long Tieng, the Headquarters of MR 2. Soon, I returned to the frontlines again.
1968-1975—I was stationed at Long Tieng until our country was taken over by the Communists in 1975.
1975—My family and I escaped to the refugee camp Namphong in Thailand. We didn’t stay long in the camp before we immigrated to the US.
1976-Present—I dedicated my life to be a good person and role model for my community.
