Chong Neng Vue was born in Mouang Nga in 1945 and received some education as a young adult from the town of Mouang Moc, Laos. He was recruited into the Secret War as an SGU soldier in 1966. He was placed in Group Mobile (GM) 25, which was commanded by Lt. Colonel Chong Kua Vue. The height of the fighting between the North Vietnamese Army and GM 25 was from 1967-1969. Chong Neng lost two brothers when the enemy attacked their military base in Mouang Moc. He suffered a bullet wound on his left leg, which scarred and disabled him for life. When the communists took over Laos in 1975, he went back to farming and lived with the Laotian people. He and his family’s lives were under constant surveillance for his role in the war. In 1984, Chong Neng along with 70 other Hmong members left on foot to Thailand. In 1994, he and his family immigrated to the US from the tattered Ban Vinai Refugee Camp. ∆
