Hmong American
50th Anniversary

1975 - 2025
__________

SGU Organization encourages Hmong organizations, communities, and clan councils across the U.S. to organize, honor, and celebrate this 50th Anniversary.

This is a tribute to the Hmong journey from the war-torn country of Laos, to the tattered refugee camps in Thailand, and onward to their new lives to the United States and other Western countries began in 1975.

This anniversary is to honor and pay tribute to those who have made our Hmong journey to the U.S. possible:

  • To celebrate and be reminded of our Hmong history, heritage, and story

  • To connect U.S.-born Hmong to their parents’ past and origins

  • To educate the Hmong and general public of our migration from Laos to the U.S.

The Biden Administration has officially announced strong support to commence this 50th Anniversary, marking the end of the Vietnam War. More information about the President’s Proclamation and planned events are available here.
