“To retreat”
———————————
When I was in training in Mouang Mo for two months, we trained on how to crawl with gunshots going over our heads because I really wanted to learn. I learned to shoot the large artillery, the guns, and cannons. The largest 75 probably went the distance about 7 kilometers, the 81 cannon went about 12 kilometers, the 105 went 15 kilometers, and the 155 reached 25 kilometers. We went into battle for a month and we won them all. The captains and majors have been through battles already so they knew how to be scared, but I was young and was not afraid of dying. We won with Colonel Toulong Yang attacking from the south and we attacked from the north so both of our regimes won. Probably someone [enemy] from the other side called our Prime Minister Souvana Phouma in Vientiane. The Prime Minister called the General [Vang Pao]and demanded we retreat. The General demanded us to leave and we were very angry. We won all the battles, but we were told to return back.
